Messages from Principal Pulphus
SY 2020, Term 1, Marking Period 1 [October 30, 2020]
I hope this letter finds you well, safe and healthy.
Our first marking period has ended, and we are now transitioning into a new marking period, and a new school program.
The new school program is intended to support both students and teachers within our remote and in-person learning structures. As a school, we did not anticipate in having over 50% of our student population choosing the remote only setting. Nonetheless, we are committed to supporting students in achieving academic success in both settings and we seek to normalize our school program to help in those efforts.
Below, you will find an outline of our new program structure. All in-person students will be in either group A or B. This means that the students who were once in Group C, will join either A or B.
--Every Tuesday and Wednesday, when school is in session, A-Group students should report to school.
--Every Thursday and Friday, when school is in session, B-Group students should report to school.
|Targeted Academic Support (Remote)||A||A||B||B|
Attendance is very important. We need for students to remain engage in order to support their academic achievement. Please help us in communicating to your child the importance of attendance. All students should log into their Attendance Google Classroom, daily, to mark their attendance during the first period. The window to submit attendance is between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM. Students who do not submit their attendance will get a phone call in the afternoon.
If you are interested in having your child move from remote only instruction to blended learning OR from blended learning to remote instruction, please complete the Learning Preference Survey as soon as possible.
Marking Period 1 Report Cards were mailed home today. If your child earned an NX for any course, an NX means they did not meet the course expectations and MUST work harder in the next two marking periods to ensure a passing grade (and credit) for the semester. The semester will end on January 29, 2021.
Attending school, either in-person or remotely will help students meet their academic goals. Students must take part in synchronous instruction in order to learn and understand content, receive feedback from their teachers, and learn about their areas for improvement.
If your child has any technology issues, please inform the school by calling the school (718-402-7690) or emailing our parent coordinator, Ms. Wallen.
In closing, please be sure to visit our school website to remain updated on information pertaining to the school. We are committed to working with all of our families to ensure every Bronx Design student is successful. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Parent Coordinator, Ms. Wallen (email@example.com).
