    Requirement

    • Be at least 18 years of age.
    • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
    • Ability to work in all weather.
    • Must be punctual and reliable.
    • OSHA 30 required, NYC 40-hour Site Safety Training (SST) Card preferred, DOT Flagger preferred

     

              Junior Constriction Superintendent

    Commitment

    • Reliability, timeliness, and respect are required
    • Must have at least OSHA 30-hour training upon hire
    • New York City 40-hour Site Safety Training (SST) Card strongly preferred
    • Ability to walk up and down 6 flights of stairs multiple times per day
    • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, ability to work in all weather
    • Familiarity with construction work, hands-on/trade experience preferred

  • Iron Workers Locals 40 & 361 Recruitment 2023

    Local 40 and 361 Iron Workers are currently recruiting candidates! These slots fill up fast - Graduating students and/or alumni are eligible to sign up, follow the steps below.
     
    2. Click on Select a Date.  
    3. Scroll all the way down to a date where tickets are still available. 
    4. Use a debit/credit card to purchase your ticket.
     
    It will cost each candidate $28.45 to sign up for their tickets/entrance exam.
    The location is: 35-23 36th Street Astoria, NY 11106. 
     
    *Candidates must be at least 17 years old.
    *They must show up with their picture ID and their printed ticket.
    *Their CTE program, or not being enrolled in one, does not matter.
    *The process of checking in and taking the exam may take about 2-3 hours.
    *Simply buying a ticket or applying does not guarantee acceptance.
    *Candidates who are accepted in this union will be a part of a 3-year training program and can potentially make $40/hour including pension and health insurance benefits.

    Overview: This union focuses on mason tending, interior and total demolition, general conditions, plasterer tending, mortar mixing for bricklayers, fire watch, fireproofing and mixing, scaffolding, restoration work, temporary heat, flagging, and punch list.

    Overview: This union focuses on natural stone and precast stone installation on sitework, buildings, bridges, viaducts, schools, parks, and other structures. They also move heavy materials and equipment around worksites using rigging gear, pulleys, cranes, and winches.  
     
    Application Process: Applications must be obtained in person with a government-issued ID only at United Derrickmen and Riggers, Local Union #197, 47-10 32nd Place, Suite 403, Long Island City, NY 11101, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.  300 applications will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Maritime Careers Pre-apprentice Program

    Our partners at Kingsborough Community College are having an info session on Fri, Sep 22 @ 10AM about its maritime pre-apprenticeship program. This program, done in collaboration with the Seafarers International Union, prepares students for the SIU Apprenticeship Program with a 12-hr introduction to the maritime industry and career pathways, covering fees for credentials needed, as well as assistance with the SIU Apprenticeship application, and a stipend to cover the cost of travel to Piney Point, MD. Once students are accepted into the apprenticeship program, classes, meals and lodging are free and graduates are then guaranteed a first job aboard one of the SIU’s contracted vessels. 
     
    Candidates must be 18+ and have a valid passport.  Candidates must be able to pass the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) with a score of at least 9.

  • CTE Teachers Needed

    For the upcoming school year (September 2023 - June 2024), we're seeking full-time Career & Technical Education (CTE) teachers in various subjects.

    The work schedule is generally Mon-Fri @ 8AM-3PM.

    The starting pay at minimum is $61K but may be higher based on relevant education level and relevant industry experience.

    We are seeking professionals who would like to teach full-time who have industry experience in Automotive Maintenance/Repair, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Electrical Installation (especially with background in renewable energy), and possibly additional areas in CTE depending on need.

JBEI focuses on electrical construction.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have one year of High School level algebra or the equivalent. An official transcript will be required after selection and prior to indenture.

  • Must pass a physical exam as determined by a physician selected and paid by JAC, after selection and prior to indenture.

  • Must be a resident, for at least two years, of the greater NY metropolitan area (within a 60-mile radius of Columbus Circle in New York City).

  • Must obtain a qualifying score of ‘3’ or above on the NJATC/AIR aptitude test.

NYC District of Carpenters

BuildingWorks is a pre-apprenticeship training program that prepares candidates for the NYC District Council of Carpenters Apprenticeship

  • Applicants should have a strong interest in Carpentry and commit to completing the 4-year apprenticeship leading to a career as a Union Carpenter.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to work on job sites anywhere in New York City and vicinity.
  • Applicants must pass a drug screen.
  • Training dates are June 5 - 30, 2023.
  • Full-Day Sessions are held Mon. to Fri. 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. (start/end times may vary)
  • Sessions will be held in person at the Carpenters Training Center in lower Manhattan. There is a strict attendance policy. No excused absences or lateness for any reason.
